"Beloved Community-What You Do Makes a Difference"

Waco Convention Center - Texas Room South

From Our President

Who are we through Christ? That is the question presented to us in April from the United Women in Faith Circles - Program Resource Book. Peace cannot be achieved without justice and love. We were reminded of Christs love for us when we celebrated Resurrection Sunday. There is no greater love than that of Christ, who suffered for us on the Cross.

Some of the questions we were asked to reflect on were, “What do you think of when you hear the word peacemaker”? What comes to mind when you think about that word? What would “making peace” entail in Jesus’ expectation? And how are justice and peace connected?

As United Women in Faith, we are no strangers to justice and peace. That is why it’s important to spend time with God. I have been enjoying the Soul-Care Moments that are given for our reflection each month. We were to make a list of things that give us peace. Schedule 5 to 15 minutes in the day to minimize distractions and mute all identified sources of anxiety and bring in all things that give you peace and joy.  If you were not able to participate in the April program, you can still take time for your own Soul-Care moment.

We are all saddened by events that have taken place recently. A reminder of why it’s important to make time for our mental as well as physical health. With that, I want to leave us with the following Prayer of St. Francis: Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope: where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen.

Remember, when things are weighing heavy on your heart, take time to talk with God. Ask him to show you the pathway to peace. We’re stronger together.
